Established in 2004, the Manyoni Private Game Reserve (Zululand Rhino Reserve) is a private game reserve comprising of 17 private landowners who have dropped their internal fences in order to form a private reserve covering 23 000ha. The reserve boasts a variety of habitats including vegetation types ranging from open savannah thornveld to riverine woodland.

This diversity in habitats allows the reserve to support numerous wildlife species and the reserve is home to over 70 different mammal species.

Open game drives in 4x4 vehicles are offered twice daily, in the mornings and the afternoons. Mavela Game Lodge offers visitors the chance to see lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, black and white rhino, as well as numerous other mammal species (cheetah, wild dog, zebra, giraffe, warthog) and many different antelope (kudu and impala, amongst others).

The lodge, which is affiliated to Bird Life South Africa, and further offers excellent birding opportunities.

Mavela Game Lodge is also able to assist in arranging other activities on the Manyoni Private Game Reserve and nearby surrounds.

These include:

• Guided walking safaris
• Speciality birding tours
• Elephant interaction experiences
• Sunset boat cruises and/or Tiger fishing on nearby Jozini Dam

All meals are included in the daily rate and include:

• Early morning coffee with rusks
• Fresh fruit
• Full English breakfast
• High tea
• Three-course gourmet dinners
• Tea, coffee, local beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks are also included
