BAYETE ZULU GAME LODGE ****
Fully hosted and catered lodge

Bayete Zulu Game Lodge is a member of the 22 000 ha Zululand Rhino Reserve. We own the 2 300 ha Mkuze West portion of this reserve. We consider the reserve to be one of the most densely stocked and ecologically balanced in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The reserve consists of a varied landscape of mountains, open plains and dense riverine woodlands. The diversity of its flora and high carrying capacity make this an animal Eden, ensuring guests that regardless of weather or circumstance they will always enjoy excellent game viewing with interesting drives and walks.
In 1999, the reserve was made up of a group of cattle farms, riddled with over 60 kilometers of barbed wire, alien weed and a hundred years of farming implements buried beneath the earth. With a team of over 50 workers, we cleared the barbed wire, digging up each fence post by hand. We also poisoned and cut out over 300 hectares of trifid weed, and cleared the bush. At last we were ready! It was now time to move on and start buying our much-needed game species.
Farms in the Zululand area have a high percentage of naturally occurring game. This includes impala, of which 600 already existed on the farm, approximately 300 beautiful nyala antelope, a multitude of red, blue and grey duiker, the elusive and endangered suni, leopard, 12 steenbok, 56 reedbuck, dozens of vervet monkeys, troops of very shy baboons, and 180 warthog.

Accommodation
Bayete Lodge consists of 8 Colonial luxury rooms, all en suite, with spacious sunken baths, open showers and separate toilet. Each individually decorated room has top quality twin beds with a double fold-out ottoman. All our rooms are equipped with mosquito nets, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and a mini bar that is well stocked with a selection of beverages and light snacks. For your convenience, in-room safes are provided for the safekeeping of all cash, travel documents and other such articles.

Lounge
The whole family can sink into our couches, the perfect place to laze around in the afternoon before heading off to a sundown safari.

Activities
Lazy lizards in the sunshine - my favourite. Leave it all behind you. In this world there is no start or finish. Put your feet up and relax. Let us take care of you for one day or a hundred. Lie by our heated rim flow swimming pool sipping cocktails in the warm African sunshine with a view over the entire peninsula. You can see our Zulu village, a tiny dot in the east. While in the vista elephants and other animals pass, live and play. All this without moving from your sun lounger.

Jacuzzi
Tired of the sun? Move onto the deck under the Boma. Emulate our hippos while you wallow with a glass of champagne in our warm waters pumped freshly from underground lakes hundreds of metres below the earth.

Bush Dinners
Let us spoil you with an evening of culinary delight, paraffin lamps hanging in the trees above you, dulling the stars with a smoky haze while you eat listening to the sounds of jackals calling and bushbuck barking.

Game Drives

Day Drives

Being one of the most densely stocked reserves in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, a drive with one of our knowledgeable field drivers is guaranteed to be an adventure. Come watch our hippos wallow, while their babies ride on their backs.. Tea, coffee and rusks are served on the morning game drive.

Night Drives
Experience the African night with its magnificent skies! Nocturnal species such as ant-bear (aardvark), leopard, genets, night jars and a host of smaller creatures may also be found in the region. The night also allows one the opportunity to use other senses and to relax to the sounds and aroma of Africa. Light snacks with beverages and alcohol are served on the evening drive.

Guided Walks
Feel the sun come out on your face as your breath blows steam into the cool morning air whilst your guide walks you through the reserve.

Pumba Club
You have done your bit for the year. Rest while your kids entertain themselves at our activity centre, which is equipped with jungle gyms, slides, seesaws, trampoline, swings, tree house, boma, kids' DVDs, TV and Sony Playstations.

And many many more to offer.

Conferences

Indaba Centre
We accommodate groups of up to sixteen. Set away from the lodge, our facilities include flip boards and white boards. Bring your laptop, plug it in and you are in your office - but what an office!
With one wall under a retractable cover, move the cover and you are exposed to a sun deck with a view facing the Lebombo Mountains. If it's hot, drop the cover with its see-through panel, and flick on the aircon. This is the perfect environment for everyone.

Equipment & Catering
The Lodge can offer outdoor catering on the sun deck or you may also opt for formal dining in the Melting Pot Restaurant.
Available upon request, we also offer message facilities, faxing and photocopying.
